Independent Consultant/Project Manager for PowerPath Phase II Project:

ComED: Main responsibilities were to manage the writing of the design specifications for the meter unbundling portion of Phase II for PowerPath. I not only served as a key liaison between developers and business parties, but I analyzed various Datamart interfaces in order to provide information regarding existing processes to the developers, lead and management personnel. A project plan was updated periodically in order to serve for the scheduling of design specifications along with other time intervals requirements. As the project matured, my responsibilities increased to reviewing the test scripts written by the testers for systems and integration testing. In addition, I coordinated any and all meetings and discussions pertaining to meter unbundling between developers, testers and business users. In addition, I also mentored the testers on how to utilize Informatica products as well as write test scripts.

Independent Consultant/Project Manager for Risk Management Group:

CNA Insurance: My responsibilities were as the head project leader/manager for the risk Management conversion team. These tasks included preparing Scope definitions, Requirements and Project Plan deliverables as well as client code mappings. In addition, I was responsible for delegating the conversion tasks to one on-sight developer, two off-sight developers and two off-sight administrators on the project. I managed the two conversions for the client and oversaw all the deliverables of all programming, testing and analysis. These conversions were from a mainframe-based environment into an Oracle Forms client-server and batch processing platform.

Independent Consultant/Project Manager for PowerPath Project:

ComED: My responsibilities were managing the development efforts for the billing interfaces datamart development team on the PowerPath project. I managed five developers along with managing tasks across the Tech Architecture and Testing departments. In addition, walkthroughs were conducted for unit/string testing of each interface for the datamart. I coordinated and developed necessary processes to accomplish the necessary communication between the Development, Technical Architecture and Testing departments. Project planning was critical to the delivery of each interface as it served as a key tool to coordinate and synchronize design/development/testing and migration efforts from all the aforementioned departments. The time lines indicated on this Master project plan served to assist each department’s project manager in their deliverables.

Independent Consultant/Project Manager for Y2K Infrastructure Team:

CNA Insurance: My responsibilities were as head project manager/coordinator for all application departments that required Y2K certification. The tasks for this position involved the handling all scheduling and coordination efforts with technicians from various departments to effectively setup an application’s requirements for both Client/Server and Mainframe environments. Application meetings/presentations were conducted by myself with application groups to inform them of the Y2K process and examine the requirements of those particular applications in order to schedule the appropriate efforts and time necessitated in our Y2K lab. Throughout the process of certification, additional efforts involved assisting developers with understanding how to package an application to test in a Y2K environment, making modifications to our Y2K Access Application/Database, design/deployment of Intranet Y2K Scheduling application.

New Resources Corporation (3/10/1997 - 5/29/1998) Consultant/Project Manager:

Washington International Holdings: My responsibilities as a project manager were to oversee the design and program implementation efforts for an Oracle Forms 4.5 Customer Underwriting Bond Application. This application became the 1st B2B engine to service all bidding contractors and bond agents on the internet for this insurance company. Further responsibilities, due to lack of resources, consisted of analyzing the necessary forms and program code as well as implementing some necessary changes. All cosmetic redesign of programs and forms as well as testing was done through my supervision. The outcome of these implementation efforts served to automate various underwriter’s manual processes thus saving the end-users 60% of daily manual efforts as well as allowing a 50% reduction of staff.

United States Cellular Corporation: My responsibilities as a project manager were to oversee and mentor my staff of five Oracle DBAs and UNIX administrators. As required, I met with lead personnel from 7 departmental areas for gathering requirements and knowledge of the back-end efforts that my staff would need to support. The applications included HR, document imaging, billing, computer telephony and forecast systems. These applications were on multiple platforms where Visual Basic, Powerbuilder, Oracle Forms 4.5. were used for the front-end of the applications. Oracle, UNIX and Tuxedo were used as the back-end platform. The tools utilized in this environment were Patrol, Oracle Enterprise Manager and Platinum Desktop DBA in order to monitor the databases.

GATX: I served as a project manager/lead analyst on this assignment. My main responsibilities were to resolve the inventory integrity problems in a legacy environment. This environment included COBOL, Dyal, JCL, Vsam and TSO/ISPF. The entire flow analysis was conducted by myself in turn delivering program specifications to ley developers along with a feasibility study for upper management. In addition, this system included many datasets which interfaced to supporting manufacturing and financial systems. The corrective measures taken to remedy the integrity problems within this system were estimated at a ROI of $1M for the company sector.

I was involved in leading the efforts of maintenance for the Book Economic Analysis Reporting System (BEARS). This system was originally designed and developed by myself in 1992. This system systematically prices and costs the printing manufacturing efforts for customer work. In turn, it shows the economic analysis and adjusted profitability. This system is the primary pricing tool by RRD’s worldwide Book sales force and in each of our divisions. This pricing tool has had a steady ROI of $50M since it’s implementation. In addition, BEARS interfaces with a customer quotation system (CQS) which was written in Visual Basic and Access. Bears itself is written in Natural/Adabas with use of TSO/ISPF.

As a side development effort while conducting project lead tasks, I completed a Visual Basic 3.0 and Access 2.0 Telephone Directory Application for a division of RRD.

In addition, I designed/developed the interface for RRD’s Magazine Group’s price estimating tool into our company-wide sales order system (SOS). The language/database were Natural/Adabas.

Senior Systems Analyst: I enhanced the Dun & Bradstreet Personnel System to interact with the Payroll and Accounts Receivable systems. The major responsibility was to analyze/develop the necessary requirements to implement RRD’s personnel system into the Dun & Bradstreet packaged application. The entire project consisted of developing new databases, file structures, user screens; and, conversion and interface programs for this D&B personnel system. The software was Dun & Bradstreet (formerly M&D) and some of the programming languages were PDL (D&B homegrown programming language) and Natural/Adabas.

Previous to the personnel system implementation efforts, I successfully designed and implemented a new Sales Commission System for the world-wide sales staff. The system used comprehensive accounting formulas to calculate the commission earned for each sales representative. This system interfaced with the payroll application in order to deliver accurate earnings per sales representatives. The programming language/ database was Natural/Adabas and use of TSO/ISPF.
